본 연구는 블록체인 기술 기반 스타트업 기업을 조직 및 생태계 형성 차원에서 살펴보는 탐색적 연구이다. 블록체인 기술은 공공원장을 통해 정보를 분산 처리 및 저장하고 인증하는 혁신적 시스템으로 아직 지배적 플랫폼이나 디자인이 제시되지 않은 단계이므로 다양한 형태의 조직이 생겨나고 있다. 본 연구에서는 블록체인 기술 기반 창업 기업으로 어떠한 종류가 있는지 실제 사례를 통해 살펴본다. 그리고 네트워크 이론에기반하여 이러한 창업 기업들이 형성되는 초기 기업가적 과정(nascent entrepreneur)에서 중요하게 작용하는 인적 관계(personal tie)의 사례들을 조명하고자 한다. 블록체인 기술 기반 조직 형성 및 생태계 구축 과정이 기존 조직들과 어떻게 다른지 실제 사례를 통해 고찰한다. 블록체인 기술이 소위 4차산업혁명을 주도할 P2P 플랫폼, 사물인터넷 등과 같은 기술에서 중요한 역할을 맡을 것은 자명해보인다. 기업은 이러한 미래 경영 환경의 변화를 대비할 필요가 있다. 본 연구에서 제시하는 블록체인 기반 창업기업의 특성과 다른 창업기업 사이의 차이점은 블록체인 기술 및 사업을 양성화 하고자 하는 정책 당국자에게도 중요한 시사점을 줄 수 있다. 또한 블록체인 기술을 기반으로 조직을 설립하고자 하는 기업가에게도 필요한 자원을 구축하는데 실질적으로 의미 있는 해결책을제시할 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
This study is an exploratory study that examines entrepreneurship and organizational formation related with blockchain technology that will be expected to lead the so-called 4th industrial revolution. The blockchain technology is a radical innovation that has not yet been proven its potential. A variety of types of organizations are emerging because the dominant platform or design has not been proposed yet. In this study, we examine the difference between the start-up firms with blockchain technology and the existing start-ups by investigating actual cases. We intend to highlight some examples of personal ties that play an essential role in the nascent entrepreneur in which these entrepreneurs are formed. Based on the blockchain technology, we will look at actual cases of how organizational and ecosystem building processes differ from existing organizations. It is clear that the blockchain will cause important effects on innovations such as P2P platform and IoT (Internet of Things) that will lead the fourth industry. Managers are thus essential to prepare for future business environments where technology becomes a reality. Through this study, understanding the features of the blockchain based entrepreneurs can provide significant implications for policy makers who want to foster blockchain technology and business. It will also provide a meaningful solution for building the necessary resources for entrepreneurs who want to form an organization based on blockchain.
