Abstract

The performing modes of Kasa (歌辭, the korean traditional song that has very long lyric lines) can be divided into four categories-singing as a song, singing as like a song(although there is no especial rhythm and melody that is sung like a song by a heavy vocal sound), reciting with natural vocal sound, and reading with metrical sense. Those singing as a song are Hwach'ŏng (和請, the Kasa in the Buddhist ceremony), P'ansori Tan'ga (song usually sung before singing P'ansori), and 12 Kasa (歌詞). The Sadaebu (士大夫, the men of noble in the Chosŏn dynasty)'s singing-Kasa was sung as like a song. The content of Sadaebu's singing-Kasa that was sung from the early part of Chosŏn dynasty period was inherited to 12 Kasa. Kwangdae (廣大, the korean professional entertainer)'s singing-Kasa, as a like P'ansori Tan'ga, and 12 Kasa have a same rhythm style in 6 beat Todŭri (6박 도드리, ‘ ⓛ ○｜○｜○’ style). Hwach'ŏng and common people's singing-Kasa also have a same rhythm style in Ŏmmori (엇모리, ‘3‧2‧3‧2’ style).
