五種乐器와 향로의 상징에 대한 고찰

Abstract

Gilt-bronze incense burners 金銅香爐 of Paekche 百濟 Kingdom have been excavated and drawn the attention of many people. Some people have proved these gilt-bronze incense burners from the archeological and historical perspectives, and studied the religious faith and culture of the Paekche people from various aspects. Given the fact that not many legacies from Paekche have survived to present day, these efforts are very helpful in better understanding those times' social and cultural exchanges. They also will consolidate the groundwork for research into Paekche Kingdom. However, it is very interesting to take an approach toward the Paekche culture from the musico-historical viewpoint, namely, through the research into then musical instruments and their spread. Therefore, this study examines the five musical instruments carved on Paekche's incense burners, compares them with those spread in China. In this way, the research explores the symbolism of the gilt-bronze incense burners, which are deemed to represent then Paekche people's mental world.
