유아교사와 유아가 인식한 유아교사의 이미지 이해

본 연구의 목적은 유아교사들과 유아들이 인식한 유아교사의 외모, 정서, 가르치는 이미지의 의미와 그 안에 내포된 갈등을 조명하고 이해하는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 유치원, 어린이집 교사 228명과 만4, 5세 유아 458명에게 유아교사 이미지를 그림으로 그리고 설명하게 하였다. 그림을 그린 교사 중 유치원과 어린이집 교사 20명을 대상으로 집단인터뷰를 실시하였다. 수집된 그림, 그림 설명, 인터뷰 내용은 내용분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 결과에서 첫째, 유아교사와 유아들은 아름다우면서도 활동적인 양성적 유아교사의 외모 이미지를 인식하였다. 둘째, 유아교사와 유아들은 표면적으로는 미소와 사랑을 나타내지만 내면적으로는 긴장과 힘듦을 갖는 앙면적인 유아교사의 정서 이미지를 인식하였다. 셋째, 유아교사들과 유아들은 정서, 이해, 헌신으로 돌보면서 가르치는 유아교사의 이미지를 인식하였다. 유아교사들이 인식한 외모, 정서, 가르침의 이미지는 유아들과의 관계와 교육을 반영한 것이다. 그러나 유아교사들은 이러한 이미지가 갖는 유아교사들의 비전문적인 이미지 때문에 끊임없이 갈등한다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore in-service teachers and young children’s image of early childhood teachers, and to understand early childhood teachers’ view on this image. The subjects of this study were 228 kindergarten and day-care center teachers, and 458 four- to five-year-old children enrolled in the kindergartens and day-care centers. The selected teachers and children drew images of early childhood teachers, and explained the meaning of their drawings. Twenty of the teachers underwent a group interview administered by the researcher. This research has found: First, the participants perceived early childhood teachers as having both masculine and feminine characteristics. For example, the typical early childhood teacher was described as being beautifully dressed but tough and active; Second, the participants had dual imagery of early childhood teachers. According to this imagery, early childhood teachers look happy and love children, but suffer from mental difficulties; And, third, the participants had the caring and teaching image of early childhood teachers. These images certainly have something to do with the teachers’ relationships with children. Yet, the teachers themselves have unfavorable views on unprofessional images perceived by the subjects of this study.
