Abstract

Art cannot be separated from life. The relationship between art and life can also be seen from the fact that the etymology of aesthetics is derived from the Greek aisthesis, that is, the senses. That art is primarily concerned with the senses is also reflected in the fact that the first art in Greece was koreia, that is, dance. Dance begins with the act of standing and walking on the ground. Dance which starts from the pleasure of tactile sense, acquires an increase in pleasure through the beat and rhythm of the body, and the beat and rhythm are created in a transformed form through voice. This is music. The fact that dance and chorus are Dionysian art once again confirms that art originates from the senses. Art’s departure from the senses begins when art unites with consciousness and the transcendent. Art cannot be separated from truth and goodness. The medieval tradition of finding the standard of beauty in perfection, proportion, and clarity is also found in Kant and Hegel’s philosophy of art. Hegel defines art as the intuition of absolute spirit as the senses. What is important to Hegel is the absolute spirit. Art that started from the senses is inverted in this way. Nietzsche shows the restoration of the senses through his art philosophy, especially physiology of art. For Nietzsche, art is a kind of physiology, and art directly reveals the manifestation of the will to power. Power is the starting point of art and the standard of evaluation. This idea of Nietzsche was inherited by Deleuze and shows a more radical form. For Deleuze, art is drawing power. This power is seen and heard by us through the senses.
