본 연구는 코헬렛의 마지막 교훈의 의미를 고찰함으로써 전도서가 전해주는 신학적 의미가 무엇인가를 탐구하고자 한다. 코헬렛의 마지막 교훈(11:9-12:7)은 전도서 신학의 요약이자 종합이다. 코헬렛의 마지막 교훈은 두 가지 명령으로 압축된다. 하나는 ‘젊음의 때에 즐거워하라’는 것이고, 다른 하나는 ‘창조주를 기억하라’는 것이다. 첫 번째 명령인 ‘젊음의 때에 즐거워하라’는 다른 말로 하면 ‘기쁨의 삶’을 살라는 교훈이다. 코헬렛은 이 기쁨의 삶이 ‘마음의 길들과 눈의 본 바를 따라 걷는 방식’이 되어야 한다고 강조한다(9절). 또한 이러한 기쁨의 삶은 마음에서 ‘분노’가 떠나가고 몸에서 ‘나쁜 것’이 사라지는 건강한 삶이 유지될 때 가능함을 역설한다(10절). 두 번째 명령인 ‘창조주를 기억하라’는 다른 말로 하면 ‘하나님과 동행하는 삶’을 살라는 교훈이다. 이 동행의 삶은 그 기회가 제한되어 있다. 이 제한된 때에 대해서 코헬렛은 ‘-하기 전’이라는 표현을 세 번 반복하며 강조한다(1절, 2절, 6절). 이러한 창조주 기억의 삶은 인생의 종말에 대한 인식과 더불어 하나님 경외의 삶으로 나아가게 한다. 코헬렛의 마지막 교훈과 더불어 ‘모든 것이 헛되다’(12:8)는 진술에 대한 고찰은 전도서의 신학이 무엇인가를 보여준다. 전도서의 신학은 ‘의심과 질문의 신학,’ ‘기쁨과 누림의 신학,’ ‘신뢰와 경외의 신학’의 세 가지의 특징으로 요약할 수 있다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the meaning of the final lesson of the Kohelet and to explore the theological meaning of Ecclesiastes. Kohelet's final lesson (11:9-12:7) is a summary and synthesis of Ecclesiastes theology. Kohelet's final lesson is condensed into two imperatives. One is ‘to rejoice in the days of youth’ and the other is ‘to remember the Creator’. The first command is, in other words, a lesson to live a “life of joy.” Kohelet emphasizes that the life of joy should be “a way of walking in the ways of the heart and in the sight of the eye” (v. 9). It also emphasizes that such a life of joy is possible when a healthy life is maintained by removing the heart of ‘anger’ and eliminating ‘the bad’ from the body (v. 10). The second command is, in other words, a lesson to live a life of walking with God. This life with God is not always allowed. For this limitedness, Kohelet emphasizes the expression 'before' three times (vv. 1, 2, 6). The life of remembering the Creator leads us to the life of fearing God with the awareness of the end of life. Kohelet's final lesson, along with consideration of the statement that 'all things are vanity' (12:8), show what the theology of Ecclesiastes is. The theology of Ecclesiastes can be encapsulated in following three characteristics: “theology of doubt and question,” “theology of joy and enjoyment,” and “theology of trust and reverence.”
