김기림 시어의 혼재 양상 연구

Abstract

Kim Ki-rim sought a new literary form by rejecting worn-out traditions and through differentiation from previous generations. In him we can find compulsion for novelty and glimpse excess in linguistic experiment. But such compulsion and excess are the fruits of the special foundation of Joseon literature, and they take up important meaning in personal context. By pursuing Kim Ki-rim’s compulsion and excess, this paper seeks to examine the poet’s psychological wanderings through his selection and arrangement of poetic language. Kim Ki-rim preferred standard language over vernacular, foreign words over native ones, Chinese character-based words over concrete words. From the chaos and otherness produced from the clashing of different languages, we can see a method of self-understanding by the modern individual. The distance and level difference between subjects shown by the mixed language is likely an element forming the modernity of Joseon literature. From the flatness of foreign words pulling from the world of native language, from the free movement between abstract and concrete words, and from the trace of vernacular jutting in the world of standard language, we can see the modern esprit of Kim Ki-rim’s poetry.
