이사야 6장에 투영된 하나님의 초월적/내재적 거룩에 관한 설교학적 접근: 아브라함 쿠루빌라의 문단신학을 중심으로

초록

하나님의 거룩하심은 성경의 중심 주제 중 하나이다. 구약과 신약 모두에서 하나님께서 거룩하시고 그의 백성들도 그 거룩함에 동참해야 한다고 일관되게 가르친다. 그러나 이러한 중요성에도 불구하고 현대 교회강단에서 하나님의 거룩에 관한 설교를 듣기는 점차 더 어려워지고 있다. 본 논문의 주된 목적은 하나님의 거룩하심을 어떻게 이해하고 효과적으로 전달할 수 있는지에 대한 대안을 제시하는 데 있다. 우선, 하나님의 거룩에 관한 설교가 왜 점차 어려운 주제로 인식되는지에 대한 근본적인 이유를 분석한다. 이 과정에서 첫째, 거룩이라는 어휘가 의미론적으로 다양한 뜻을 내포하고 있다는 점, 둘째, 하나님의 거룩을 설교할 때 지나치게 정보 전달의 해석학에 의존하는 경향이 있다는점, 그리고 마지막으로, 적실한 적용을 포함한 설교학적 논의가 부족하다 는 점을 제시한다. 이러한 도전을 극복하기 위해, 본 논문은 아브라함 쿠루빌라(Abraham Kuruvilla)의 문단 신학(pericopal theology)을 소개하고, 이를 바탕으로 하나님의 거룩의 개념을 가장 명확하게 드러내는 성경 본문 중 하나인 이사야 6장을 집중적으로 살펴본다. 문단 신학으로 접근한 이사야6장의 하나님의 거룩은 초월적 성격과 내재적 성격을 모두 포함하고 있으며, 이 두 영역을 통합적으로 다룰 때 본문에 투영된 저자의 의도를 따라 하나님의 초월적이면서 내재적인 거룩이 회개의 동력이 된다고 주장한다.

Abstract

The holiness of God is one of the central themes in the Scripture, emphasized throughout the Old and New Testaments. It declares that God is holy and calls his people partake in this holiness. Despite its theological prominence, the theme of God’s holiness has been increasingly marginalized in contemporary pulpit discourse, overshadowed by other topics that prioritize immediacy or relatability. This dissertation aims to propose methodologies for deepening the biblical understanding and enriching the effective communication of divine holiness. The study begins by examining the fundamental challenges that impede effective preaching on God’s holiness, identifying three critical factors: the complex semantic range of the term “hoy” or “holiness,” an excessive reliance on information-driven hermeneutical approaches, and an insufficient homiletical framework for practical application. To address these challenges, this study employs Abraham Kuruvilla’s pericopal theology as an interpretive framework, applying it to Isaiah 6—a passage that uniquely elucidates the concept of divine holiness. Through the lens of pericopal theology, this study demonstrates that Isaiah’s vision encompasses both transcendent and immanent aspects of God’s holiness, offering a holistic framework for understanding divine sanctity. The research argues that integrating these dual dimensions enables preachers to proclaim God’s transcendent holiness while simultaneously providing relevant and effective applications based on his immanent holiness, thereby driving the catalyst for repentance.
