목적 : 본 연구는 간호대학생의 연명치료 중단에 대한 지식과 태도를 알아보고 이들 간의 관계를 파악하여 연명치료중단과 관련된 교육프로그램을 개발하는데 기초자료를 제공하기 위해서 시도되었다. 연구방법: 자료수집은 J도 소재 대학교 2개교에 재학 중인 남·여 간호학과 학생을 대상으로 실시하였다. 수집된 자료는 기술통계, 피어슨 상관계수를 이용하여 분석하였다. 연구결과: 간호대학생의 연명치료중단에 관한 지식정도는 16점 만점에 7.42점이었으며, 연명치료중단에 관한 태도 분석 결과 95점 만점에 50.03점으로 평균평점으로 계산하면 2.64점이었다. 연명치료중단에 관한 지식은 생명연장술 혹은 연명치료 경험이 있는 경우가 경험이 없는 경우에 비해서 지식이 유의하게 높았으며, 태도는 연명치료중지 결정권이 환자, 환자나 가족에게 있다는 집단이 태도가 긍정적으로 나타났다. 또한 연명치료중단 지식과 태도는 유의한 양의 상관관계를 보였다. 결론: 따라서 대상자의 연명치료중단 지식을 높이기 위한 체계적이고 전문적인 교육을 통해 긍정적인 태도로 변화를 유도할 필요가 있을 것으로 사료된다.
Abstract
Purpose: This study aimed to provide basic data of nursing student’s knowledge and attitudes towards the withdrawal of life-sustainingtreatment. Methods: Nursing students from two universities in J province participated in this study. The descriptive statistics, t-test,one-way ANOVA, Scheffe test and Pearson’s correlation coefficient were used to analyse the data. Results: The nursing students’ knowledgeof the withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment was 7.42 out of 16. The participants’ attitude toward the withdrawal of life-sustainingtreatment was 50.03 out of 95 which was 2.64 in its mean rating. Regarding their knowledge of the withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment,nursing students whose family members experienced the life-sustaining treatment had significantly higher knowledge than those studentswhose not (p<.001). Those participants who support patients or their families’ right to decide the withdrawal of life-sustaining treatmenthad positive attitude toward the withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment (p=.007). In addition, the knowledge of and attitude towardthe withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment showed significant correlations (r=.639, p<.001). Conclusion: The findings of this studysuggest that systematic and professional education is needed for nursing students to equip positive attitude toward the withdrawal oflife-sustaining treatment in nursing practice.
