Abstract
This study aims to investigate the relationship between the three dimensions of nonwork orientations(family, personal and community) and work engagement. Additionally, the moderating effect of age in the relationship between nonwork orientations and work engagement was explored. In order to examine the relationships, a survey was conducted among workers from diverse industries. 356 participants were included for the final analysis. Multiple regression analysis was used. The results of the current study showed that the family and community dimension of nonwork orientations were positively associated with work engagement, while personal dimension of nonwork orientations was negatively related to work engagement. Furthermore, the results indicated that age significantly moderated the effects in the relationships between personal and community dimensions (not the family dimension) and work engagement. Based on the results of the study, the theoretical and practical implications were discussed.
