본 연구는「국민노후보장패널」1차년도(2005년) 학술대회용 자료를 활용하여 중고령자의 취업실태를 비교하고 중고령자의 취업결정요인을 분석하였다. 분석 대상은 50세 이상 75세 미만 중고령자인 총 7,003명이며, 인적 속성, 건강상태, 노동시장 특성, 가구소득, 가구지출, 가구자산 및 부채, 일자리 직업정보를 취업결정요인으로 주목하여 취업 여부에 대한 이항로짓 모형과 취업형태에 대한 다항로짓 모형을 추정하였다. 분석 결과, 기존의 연구가 주로 취업-미취업의 기준에 따른 취업결정요인 분석에 치중한 결과, 이질적인 속성을 가진 취업자 집단, 즉 임금근로자, 고용주/자영업자, 무급가족종사자 간의 차이를 반영하지 못하고 있다는 점이 발견되었다. 다항로짓 모형의 추정 결과는 전체적으로는 취업 여부에 대한 이항로짓 분석 결과와 유사하지만, 개별 요인별 추정계수의 방향이나 크기가 서로 달라 임금근로자, 고용주/자영업자, 무급가족종사자를 취업자로 통합하여 해석하는 데 한계가 있기 때문이다. 이러한 결과는 취업 여부에만 초점을 맞춘 기존의 논의에서 한 단계 더 나아가 임금근로자와 고용주/자영업자, 그리고 무급가족종사자 각각에 대한 심층 분석이 필요하다는 점을 시사하고 있다.
Abstract
This study examines the determinants of the older’s decisions to work or not focusing on the new data from the Korean Retirement and Income Study(KReIS, 2005) which was released at 2008. Our sample consists of 7,003 old persons who were aged 50 or more but less than 75. We found a kind of determinants with statistically significant effects to their decisions such as age, education, gender and the marital status, health status, the unemployment rate in the residential area, using the binomial and multinomial logit model. Their income, expenditure, financial assets and debts also significantly affect their labor force participation. Although this results show what is the determinant of decision to work or not, we could not find the determinants of decision to do as the employed or as the self-employed if old persons work. It reveals the next direction to study about the old workers, which makes our knowledge more helpful to design the policy for the older's healthy life.
