Abstract
Purpose: This study is aimed at organizing the vague concept of the resilience and presenting the clear definition based on the analysis of the meaning and properties of the resilience. Methods: This study uses Walker and Avant’s (2005) method of concept analysis as a framework to analyze the concept of the resilience. Results: From the results of this study, 1) self-efficacy 2) self-esteem 3) communication skills 4) hope (optimism) 5) social support were identified as properties of the resilience. The area of the resilience are divided into personal, family, and social and environmental factors, and preceding elements include disorders, anxiety, depression, aggression, antisociality, death, illness, divorce, unemployment, family conflict, bullying, school violence, peer relationship, experience of hazardous environments and dysfunctional communities. Through self-efficacy, self-esteem, communication skills, hope (optimism), social support and interaction between family members, the results of the increased self-efficacy and self-esteem as well as improved sociality, academic performance and adaptability can be deduced. Conclusion: The concept of resilience is considered to be the core concept that can be applied in a variety of nursing areas in addition to issues related to married immigrant women. In this regard, the exact understanding of resilience elements that subjects have in each nursing area can lead to devising interventions to strengthen the resilience of the subjects. In addition, it is required to conduct a research for development of tools used to measure the resilience of married immigrant women.
