미디어 파사드는 건축 구조물과 디스플레이의 결합에 의해 탄생된 새로운 분야이다. 디지털 테크놀로지는 도시 건축물이 위치한 대중 공간에서 사용자와 설치자 또는 사용자들 간의 쌍방향 소통을 추구함으로써 새로운 장르의 인터랙티브미디어인 urban screen이라고도 불리는 매체를 만들었다. 이 미디어 파사드는인터랙티브 미디어의 대중 공간의 지각적, 경험적 그리고 지식적 확장성에대한특징들을 내포하고 있다. 본 연구는 인터랙티브 미디어와 미디어 파사드의 정의를 서술하고 다섯 개의 국내외 미디어 파사드 사례를 통하여 새로운 미디어 파사드를 디자인 할 때 고려해야 하는 것들을 인터페이스, 물리적 구조물과 환경적통합, 콘텐츠 개발, 견고함, 그리고 사회적 관계변형 이라는 다섯 가지 과제로 구분하여 분석하고 그에 따른 발전 방향들을 도출 하고자 한다.
Abstract
Media facades are a new category of interactive media concernedwith the integration of displays into the building structure. Courtesyof the digital technologies, Media facade which is called as urbanscreen in interactive media fields is made by pursuing interactivecommunication between users and installer or among users on publicspaces of urban buildings. This media facades have the characteristicsof interactive media which are perceptual, experiential and knowledgeableextension. This research explores the concept of interactive mediaand media facade. And then, through the five instances of domesticand foreign media facades, the research suggests the development perspectiveof media facade with the challenges concerned a broad rangeof issues : interfaces, physical structure and environmental integration,contests, robustness and social relations for designing a new mediafacade.
