Abstract
The purpose of this study is to discover the meaning of dance in modern Korean poetry through J. Rancière’s(1940∼) concept of ‘sentence-image’ and to examine the aesthetic characteristics of contemporary dance art. Accordingly, this study interpreted the meaning of dance in the works of Kim Sou-young(1921∼1968), a representative modern poet of Korea who presented ‘Poetics of onmom’ by putting the body, the main medium of dance, at the forefront, based on Rancière’s thoughts, and explored Chisato Minamimura's Deaf for 4'33''(2022) as ‘a common emotional surface where all ideas, forms, and actions become equal’. Through this, the researcher was able to examine the meaning of the body, the unique medium of dance, in a contemporary era where various artistic media are being fused, thereby examining the possibility that the phenomenon of disappearing boundaries in art is not simply limited to the diversity of expressive media, but can become a metaphorical image of reflection on the true meaning of life.
