국내 미술관 소장작품 기술지침 개선 방안 연구: 작가명 검색(백남준, 이우환) 사례를 중심으로

국내 미술관 소장작품의 기술(Description) 지침은 기관별로 별도 운영되고 있으며, 작가명과 같은 주요 항목의 표기 기준 또한 일관되어 있지 않다. 본 연구는 이러한 기술지침의 내용적 미비와 표준 부재가 미술관 웹사이트의 정보 검색과 접근성에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 특히 작가 백남준과 이우환을 중심으로, 미술관의 기술 방식 및 검색 결과를 비교 분석하고, 검색 오류의 원인이 단순한 시스템 한계가 아닌 기술지침의 구조적 결함 및 연계 미비에 있음을 실증적으로 제시하였다. 더불어 국외 기관의 전거제어, 시소러스, 다언어 기술방식 등을 검토하고, 국내 기술지침 개선을 위한 방향으로 명명 표준화, 메타데이터 유연화, 국가 주도의 연구 및 기관 간 협력 체계 마련을 제안한다. 이 연구는 미술관 정보서비스의 품질 제고와 검색 기반의 데이터 정합성 향상을 위한 기록학적 실천의 기초를 제공하고자 한다.
Abstract
This study examines the descriptive guidelines for collection items in Korean art museums, which are currently managed independently by each institution, leading to inconsistencies in key metadata fields such as artist names. By focusing on the cases of Nam June Paik and Lee Ufan, the research compares descriptive and search results across major museums, demonstrating that search errors are not simply due to system limitations but are rooted in structural deficiencies of the descriptive frameworks and insufficient interoperability. In addition, international practices such as authority control, thesaurus implementation, and multilingual description models are reviewed. Based on these insights, the study proposes directions for improving domestic description guidelines, including the standardization of naming conventions, more flexible metadata structures, and the establishment of a national research and coordination system among institutions. This research provides a foundational archival perspective for enhancing the quality of information services and ensuring metadata consistency within the digital environments of contemporary art museums.
