Abstract
Ma Su(馬驌)'s "The Arranged Stories in Zuo Commentary(左傳事緯)" and Gao Shiqi(高士奇)'s "Events in Zuo Commentary(左傳紀事本末)" are two significant adaptations of "The Zuo Commentary(左傳)" in the early Qing Dynasty, which represent the officially recognized historical viewpoints of the time. These commentaries emphasize concepts such as "heavenly way" and "wise monarchs" in terms of monarch-subject ethics, highlighting the "righteousness between monarchs and subjects". They also address the distinction between the Civilized and the Barbarian by promoting cultural unity, transforming "barbarian" into "the Civilized". These commentaries demonstrate the inevitability of the transition from the Ming to the Qing Dynasty and the legitimacy of the Qing regime, revealing the specific process in which scholars participated in the official reconstruction of ideology during the early Qing period.
