This treatise has the purpose to study the meaning of the prose of Jeong Ji Yong in the history of the style of modem essay. In 1930s, the meanings of writing essay of Jeong Ji Yong have two aspects. First, it is related to the style of an essay genre. The essay of 1930s was existing as the genre of free noninterference as we know through the style of formless and the style of brush pleasure. In the situation, Jeong Ji Yong conceived to express thoughts freely. The process of the thinking about the this kinds of style shows the aspect mixing various social classes and heterogeneities from the experimentation of Naeganchae (a calligraphic style) to the development of various literary styles, and the processes to show the fragments of experiences and thoughts with fragmentic ways. This process has the meaning that he was noticing a new style relating with tension and trouble against the old style and the lives of the day. not symbolize the fixed style. Also, the prose of Jeong Ji Yong has the meaning related with the literary style of an individual. In most of essays of 1930s, individuals had closing and artificial characteristics, but Jeong Ji Yong was drawing the individuals communicating with others or wandering people as a fragment in real life for the communication that is possibly extremely momentary and fragmentary. It showed that he criticized the aspect of the essay of the day appearing bending and distorting the meaning of individual.
