Abstract
In ‘An essay onAnti-poetry’, Kim Soo-young emphasized that the true poetry is made out of the tension ‘between poetry and anti-poetry', 'between an intend to be a poetry and resistant force against it’, and ‘between a meaning-oriented situation and not such a situation'. If language cannot describe the essence of objects, the nature of Poetry is consists in making a challenge to that impossibility. For it, to express a discordance between language and objects is the only method. This is the ‘silence', in other words, situation in which only the language survive through death of subject. In it, the meaning of poetry is permanently deferred and created, without repression over subject. Such a situation can ensure the eternity of Poetry. It goes without saying that reality is constantly overcame by that creative process, in which consists the power of Poetry. Grass(<풀>) is a production of such insight. Like this, Kim’s engagement-poetry is spring from destiny and nature of modern poetry as such. His poetry, Grass(<풀>) is the production of his desire for getting to eternity of poetry, ‘absolute poetry'.
