본 논문은 2015년 5월 7일 행해진 2015년 영국 총선거 결과를 중심으로 영국에서의 유럽회의주의의 심화와 내부 민족주의의 발호에 대해 연구하는 것을 연구목적으로 한한다. 사전 여론조사와는 다르게 도출된 이번 총선거의 결과는 전통적 영국의 정치제도가 작용하고 있음을 증명하며 보수당 단독과 반수라는 의외의 결말을 맞았다. 결론적으로 이 논문에서 주장하듯이 2015년 영국 총선거는 유럽회의주의의 심화와 내부 민족주의의 발호의 결과이며 이 두 가지 경향이 영국 대중에게 강한 영향력을 행사하고 있음을 시사한다. 이에 우리는 앞으로 이 두 가지 경향이 영국의 정치지형에 어떠한 변화를 가져올 것인지 주목하여야 할 것이다.
Abstract
This article examines the results of the 2015 British Parliamentary election, May 7 th 2015. The Election was held in publicly intensified Euroscepticism and internal nationalism. Betraying all the pre-election polls, the election showed completely unexpected result in which Tory won a majority seats. Other results also confirm a clear tendency for intensifying Euroscepticism and internal nationalism. The Scottish National Party became the third party. While the Concervative returns, the hallmark of traditional British democracy, which is two party system, is now in question. The 2015 general election showed Euroscepticism and internal nationalism had strong influences on the British voters in different ways. We analyse the impact of these two tendencies on further political changes in Britain.
