Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the relation between serum lipid concentration and drinking, smoking and exercise, and its acts as cardiovascular disease risk factor in young man. One hundred and twenty healthy male volunteers participated in this case control study from March to May, 1996. The subjects were assigned four groups; drinking(n=31), smoking(n=18), exercise(n=42), and control(n=29). Height, weight, body mass index(BMI), systolic and diastolic blood pressure were not significantly different between four groups. In drinking group, TG and VLDL cholesterol were significantly higher than control and exercise group(p<0.05), but total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, AI, total cholesterol/HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol/HDL cholesterol ratio were not significantly difference. In smoking group, HDL cholesterol was significantly lower than control group(p <0.05), but total cholesterol, TG, LDL cholesterol, VLDL cholesterol, AI, total cholesterol/HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol/HDL cholesterol ratio were not significantly difference. In exercise group, HDL cholesterol was significantly lower than control group(p <0.05), and serum lipid concentration noted decreasing tendency than drinking and smokmg groups. These results suggest that drinking may induce the obesity caused by raise of TG, smoking can deposits cholesterol in blood vessel, exercise can reduced the serum lipid concentratlon. In this study, prevention of cardiovascular disease may ha ve been accompanied by good management of daily living habit. In this study, adequate management of daily living habit should be emphasized to prevention of cardiovascular diseases. In this study, adequate management of daily living habit is necessary to prevention of cardiovascular diseases.
