새로운 사회현상과 과정으로서의 세계화는 지역 사회와 문화의 전환에 많은 영향을 미친다. 세계화로 인해 지역문화 정체성 전환은 단순히 타문화에 대한 복사나 거부라는 양자 선택만을 의미하지 않는다. 이 논문은 이러한 지역문화 정체성 전환의 과정을 ‘혼성화’라고 부르며, 이렇게 전환된 지역문화 정체성의 특성을 혼성성이라고 부른다. 그리고 이러한 전환 과정에서 지역전통, 지역인들 의 상상력, 그리고 그들의 지리적 장소에 대한 이해가 어떤 기능과 역할을 하는 지 질문하고 대답하려 한다. 혼성성로서의 지역문화 정체성은 언제나 고정 되어 있는 것이 아니라, 언제나 잠정적이며 전환 중에 있다. 논자는 이러한 지속적인 혼성화 과정이 가능하도록 하는 것이 바로 ‘이미 짜여진 구조이며 새로이 짜여 지는 구조인’ 아비투스에 의한 지역인들의 사회 문화적 행위라고 논의한다.
Abstract
Globalization as a socio-cultural process and phenomenon in the contemporary world effects on local societies and cultures in many ways. By the impact of the global, locality(local cultural identity) has been changed. This changed locality seems to neither merely mimic nor resist the global. This article aims to research how the locality is transformed in the era of globalization. More specifically, it attempts to answer some crucial questions such as ‘Is it still valuable to discuss locality in the era of globalization?', 'Does local tradition still function important role in order to produce new locality?', and 'What is the role of imagination and geographical location'. By means of responding to them with theoretical exploration, this article introduces cultural hybridity as a crucial characteristics of locality in the era of globalization. Then, naming the whole process of continually transforming locality 'hybridization', this article carries on the argument that hybridization is proceeded by cultural practice of the locals. And this cultural practice is deeply influenced by habitus as structuring structure and structured structure of human behaviors in everyday life.
