BNC 구어체 자료를 활용한 영어 탈어휘동사구문의 사용양상과 의미유형분석
A Study on the Use Pattern and Semantic Analysis of the English Delexical Verb Constructions in the Spoken Texts of the British National Corpus

본 연구는 BNC 코퍼스 구어체에서 나타나는 탈어휘동사구문의 사용양상과 의미유형분석에 관한 연구이다. 5가지의 탈어휘동사 do, give, have, make, take와 결합하는 명사의 빈도수와 명사의 2가지 형태와 동일한 명사와 결합하는 탈어휘동사의 선호도를 알아보고자 하였다. 그 결과 do 구문은 동사파생명사, 나머지 give, have, make, take구문은 동사와 동일한 형태를 갖는 명사와 결합하는 구문이 높은 비율을 차지하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 탈어휘동사와 결합하는 명사의 의미를 감각활동, 신체활동, 정신활동, 목적 지향적 활동, 결과 지향적 활동의 5가지 의미유형을 제안하였다. 그 결과 do, have, make구문은 목표지향적 활동, give구문은 감각활동, take는 신체활동과 결과 지햐적 활동의 의미를 갖는 명사와 결합하는 경향을 보인다.
Abstract
The aims of this study are to identify the pattern of using the delexical constructions and semantic coherence between delexical verbs and nouns. The use pattern is examined and the semantics of the delexical verb constructions are analyzed such as ‘do', ‘give', ‘have', ‘make' and ‘take' retrieved from the British National Corpus of spoken texts. The result indicates that the identical forms to those of the main verbs are preferred to the derived forms and among the constructions of ‘have' and ‘make' are preferred among the delexical verbs combined to the same nouns. Five semantic categories, such as sensory, physical, mental, goal-oriented, and result-driven activities are suggested to classify the semantics of the nouns in the constructions.
