A Communication-Method of Preaching in the University Setting: A Case of John Stott

초록

John Stott was a outstanding preacher who was committed to campus mission through preaching. It is valuable to examine his method of communication. Stott makes uses of dialogical approach with questions and anticipatory answers and clear communication with precise words and uni- fied structure. Stott’s communication is also marked by the use of logic and reason with illustrations and humour as assisting tools. Stott regards the char- acter of the preacher, the power of the Holy Spirit, sincerity, conviction, car- ing heart and passion as important factors in delivery of the sermon. However, Stott’s communication seems to be lack in the use of illustrations and images for modern audiences.
