기독교 영성형성은 기독교인들이 성령을 통해 그리스도를 따를 수 있는 내면 상태를 형성하고 그리스도의 사랑을 실천하는 삶으로 이끄는 것을 기 본적 목적으로 삼으며, 기독교 신학과 전통을 기반으로 하는 영성과 관련된 이론, 방법, 교육, 훈련 등에 대해 고찰하고 나아가 기독교인들의 신앙생활 에 적용하려는 지속적인 과정이다. 침묵은 기독교 영성사에 있어서 중요한 역할을 해왔다. 침묵은 성경의 가르침을 기반으로 하고 있으며, 예배에 포함 되어왔고, 현재에도 그 유익을 인정받는 기독교 영성의 전통적인 훈련 방법 이라할수있다. 침묵은다른영적인실천 방법들과잘 어우러질수 있으며, 여러 영적 방법들이 역동적인 관계를 형성하는데 있어 중요한 역할을 할 수 있다. 본 논문은 영성형성 개념의 현대적 역사를 소개하고, 기독교 역사 를 통해 영성형성의 흐름을 해석한다. 또한 침묵에 대한 성경의 가르침, 수 도자들의 전통, 그리고 신학자들의 정의를 통해 침묵의 유익을 재조명한다. 마지막으로, 한국 개신교 영성형성이 영적 훈련의 한 방법으로 침묵을 교육 하고 실천할 것을 권한다.
Abstract
Christian spiritual formation aims to form the inner condition of Christians to follow Christ through the Holy Spirit and to lead Christians to practice the love of Christ in their lives. Christian Spiritual Formation is a life-long process to reflect on the theory, method, education, and training of Christian spirituality and to practice all these elements for a Christian life. The Bible teaches the values of silence. Silence has been included in Christian liturgy. Silence can produce dynamic relationships with other spiri- tual practices like prayer, meditation, solitude, and so on. This study in- troduces the modern history of Christian spiritual formation and illuminates the spiritual benefits of silence through the teachings of the Bible, the tradi- tions of the Christian monasticism, and the definitions of the contemporary theologians. In conclusion, this study suggests that the Korean Protestant churches need to educate and practice silence for the spiritual formation of the Korean Christians and clergies.
