Abstract
This study is examined about the origin of the place-name around the village and valley surrounding Adeungsan(어등산)in Woonsudong(운수동) distinction and Seubongdong(서봉동) distinction, Kwangsangu(광산구), Kwang- ju(광주) wide area. These place-names are as followings if divided by type. Woonsudong(운수동), Hanggol(항골), Jakeungol(작은골), Seubong- gol(서봉골) is the place-name connected with a valley. Katgol(갓골), Kanggol(강골) is the place-name that is designated by a geographical characteristic which current is split, bingmokangol(빙목안골) is the place-name where current is conjoined. Geulgol(절골), Seubonggiri(서봉지리) is a place-name connected with a temple, Handanggol(한당골), Danggol(당골), with exorcist' house, Sunamdong(선암동) with Sundol(선돌), Maebanggol(매봉골) with Maebawi(매바위) and Chadolbaegi(차돌배기) is the place-name connected with the place that regular little ball of rock gets stuck much. Mulmajigol(물맞이골) is the place-name connected with a small water fall around the valley here in Adeungsan(어등산).
