천기론(天機論)의 관점에서 본 김소월의 시학의 전통성과 근대성

Abstract

I examined the characteristics of Kim, So-Wol’s poetics through the theories of Cheonki(天機, i. e. the profound nature of Nature and its action, It is a key word to understand the view of poetry in the late Chosun Dynasty). According to the results so far examined, I can emphasize facts from three aspects as follows. First, in the consciousness of Nature, Kim, So-Wol recognized that all the beings of Nature have one’s own personality as an individual being, like theorists of Cheonki. And he wanted to sympathize and communicate with Nature on the basis of the empirical cognition. In this point, things of Nature in his poems were figured as the symbol of ordinary value which has the quality of a formation and a change. Second, the theory of Cheonki could be called as the poetics of sincerity and spontaneousness. Theorists of Cheonki affirmed the affection between man and woman, and often expressed it in their poems. Kim, So-Wol was no exception. But his poems showed us a modern esthetics by using poetic skills like irony and paradox. Third, theorists of Cheonki thought folksongs is the best poetic mode which expresses the truth and the spontaneousness of human nature on the basis of Cheonki of Nature. As it were, the consciousness of folksongs could be founded on the subjective understanding of Korean national poetry. As we know well, Kim, So-Wol wrote lots of poems based on folksongs.
