Abstract
Lim Wha's Traces after the escape to North Korea and ExpulsionOh, Seong hoIn this paper, I shared four poems and a book written by Lim Hwa who was one of the most prominent poets of KAPF group, all of which have hardly been known to critics or reachers in South Korea. I would not say I am fully satisfied with the result of my research so far. I was not able to introduce the full text for some of poems but just to confirm the titles because of difficult access to the North Korean materials under current political situation. I believe, however, it is unavailable to gather any available information, accumulate as much as possible, and at a certain point, to put them together in an effort to reorganize his life after his escape to North Korea and interpret his poetry on.To explain Lim Hwa had been expelled from their political system, I analysed some sentimental features in his poem published in North Korea. His pathos was not adjustable to their system, where they were ruled by humanism of hate and they wanted to mobilize the whole society to carry out the war and later to focus on the post-war rehabilitation. One becomes pathetic when he understands human beings are too meager to fight to against the gigantic and outrageous world. Once he had self-reflection stimulated by pathos, he was considered a crack, threatening to break the wholly unified and fully mobilized system in North Korea. It was the major reason why his poems were hardly acceptable to and even severly criticized by critics, and finally purged from the society. Although his political choice was socialism, Lim, a born poet, could never fully agree with its political logics.
