Abstract
Ko, Chang-un, 2006, Generation of Transferred Meaning by Korean, URIMALGEUL: The Korean Language and Litera- ture 36, pp.1～19. This study aims at systematic analysing and describing the generation of the transferred meaning of Korean adjective ‘kuda(big)’. Here I raise two questions. First question; What is the basic meaning of ‘kuda’? Second question; How the transferred meanings of ‘kuda(big)’ are generated by the basic meaning of ‘kuda’? The answer to the first question is that ‘kuda’ refers to the concept of physical size. The answer to the second question is that many transferred meanings are generated by the basic meaning of ‘kuda’ in relation to the meaning of co-occurring noun. And I confirm that the generation structure of transferred meaning is a radial shape. (Konkuk University)
