초록

In this study we analyze the "spatial experiments" of Malevich in the context of Russian avant-garde architecture in the 1920s and review the current value of these experiments. Spatial experiments of Malevich were carried out on the basis of the two stylistic series(such as Planit and Architekton). Malevich declared suprematism for the first time in 1915 year, and had the "pictorial experimental period" during 1915-1919 years. He had period of blank in the creation when turned attention to the issue of art education and aesthetic theory. He studied the voluminous-spatial suprematism in "spatial experimental period"(1923-1927). Malevich made two stylistic modules at about the same time from 1923~1924 years. Architekton is an architectural gypsum model without windows, doors and, a non-utilitarian and scale-free three-dimensional composition. Architekton in the work of Malevich occupies the same place as the "Monument to the 3rd International" in the work of Tatlin. This is stylistic symbol of suprematism, it's formal compositional breakthrough in architecture. Creating architekton, Malevich restores the integrity of formal compositional evolution of suprematism. On the other hand, Planit applies Architekton as a pure form to 'architecture in the life', thus receives a utilitarian sense. Unlike plaster model architekton, planit as drawing is accompanied by text describing the content of the work. Planit also has almost no windows and no doors. "Architectural experiment" of Malevich have influenced many architects(Khidekel, Chashnik, Suetin etc.). His comrades and disciples realized architectural suprematism of Malevich in the actual construction and design. Today's architects get inspiration from architectural search of Malevich as ever.
