Abstract
This paper studies "Korean Local Government Review(1989-2001)"research tendency and methodology trend by analyzing the contents of the journal. First, while studies on local government have increased during the last twelve years, studies on administrative management ranked the top (18.4%), local council, the relations between central and local government as the second (12.3%) followed by the election (12.0%). Secondly, most of the studies were done by university professors individually rather than jointly and only 30% of the research cost was sponsored. Thirdly, the methodology used in the studies is making a transition from descriptive approach to statistical approach. Also, instead of theoretical or normative studies, the problem-solving studies are preferred.
