Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate relations between organizational culture typology and job satisfaction of Korean local public organizations. This study is useful for predicting an Korean local public organizational behavior. That is, the basic and fundamental information, by which organizational behavior can be predicted, can be acquired through organizational culture analysis. In order to attain this object, organizational culture typology and job satisfaction of Korean local public organizations was conceptualized, and its characteristic and elements, usefulness and a field of study are shown. The study categorizes two organizational cultures, those are symbolic culture and practical culture. The factors of job satisfaction are policy, human relation, fulfillment, job environment. The major findings from this study are summarized as follows. The First, this study supports the validity & reliability of the scales. The Second, practical culture is more important than symbolic culture in job satisfaction. These findings give us suggestions that it is useful to investigate the cultural characteristics & difference of Korean local public organizations and it is necessary to make a further study of the causal relations between public agents, public works, and public organizational structure, job satisfaction, so forth.
