Abstract

In Korea, there stil exist a number of modern architectural struct ures which were built from 1876 - when Koreafirst opened its port to foreign trade - to the arly 1960s. Modern arc hitectures have ben rather neglected from thestudy of Korean architecture history partly because of its hort pe riod and negative atitude toward them that heyare mains of the Japanese colonial period. However, interest in modern structures is recently increasing, andresearches and studies are actively going on.This disertation is a study on brick laying techniques and es ign characteristics of Modern brick structurechurches in Jeonbuk-province. The results demonstrate that mod ern brick structure churches in Jeonbuk-provincehave become smal and simple with time and that heir structure s and esigns are closely related
