초록

Abstract

This article examines the effect of citizen-initiated contacts on citizens' trust in local government to which little attention has been paid. In this regard, we posit that citizens' evaluation on governmental performance is directly linked to their trust in government. Using the result of a survey on citizens' attitude, which was performed for 1,200 adult citizens of Korea in 2006, this study empirically examined the relationship between citizen-initiated contacts and their trust in local government. In doing so, it highlights the difference between off-line and on-line contacting in terms of the relationships between citizens' contact and their trust in local government.
