한 병영생활전문상담관의 역할수행 경험에 관한 내러티브 탐구

본 연구는 병영생활전문상담관의 역할수행 경험 이야기를 상담전문가로서의 정체성 형성이라는 관점에서 탐구하기 위한 것이다. 연구퍼즐은 연구참여자는 이전의 삶에서 어떠한 역할을 했고 병영생활전문상담관에 대한 역할기대는 무엇이었으며, 병영생활전문상담관으로서 어떠한 역할들을 수행하고 있는지 그리고 그 경험의 의미는 무엇인가이다. 연구참여자는 8년 동안 병영생활전문상담관으로 근무중인 상담관 정수연(가명)이다. 자료수집은 2020년 12월부터 2021년 7월까지 이루어졌고 연구참여자의 경험 이야기 분석은 Clandinin과 Connelly(2000)의 3차원적 내러티브 탐구 공간에서 이루어졌다. 연구결과 정수연은 병사의 치유와 성장을 돕는 삶을 꿈꾸며, 병아리 감별사 역할 요구로 정체성 혼란을 겪음, 병영생활전문상담관의 전문적 역할을 찾아감으로 나타났으며, 그 의미는 <내담장병의 치유와 성장을 돕는 상담자>, <악성사고 예방과 효율적인 병력관리를 돕는 뇌의 시냅스 같은 지휘조언자>, <부대 내 소통을 돕는 상담심리 교육자>로 구성되었다. 본 연구결과는 병영생활전문상담 현장의 질적 향상을 도모하는 데 의의가 있을 것이다.
Abstract
This study aims to explore the story of a barracks professional counselor’s role performance experience. Research puzzles include what roles the research participant had performed in her previous life, what role expectation she had for a barracks professional counselor, what role she was performing as a barracks professional counselor and what her experience meant. Counselor Su-Yeon Chung (false name), who was switched to an indefinite term contract since the term of her service as a barracks professional counselor exceeded five years, was selected as the research participant. Data was collected from December 2020 through July 2021 and analysis of the story of the research participant’s experience was conducted in a three-dimensional space conceptualized by Clandinin and Connelly (2000). The meanings of her role performance consisted of, “a counselor helping the client soldiers’ healing and growth”, “a commander-advisor helping prevent malignant incidents and manage troops efficiently like synapses in the brain”, and, “a counseling psychology educator helping communication in the unit”. This research result has significance in that it promotes the qualitative improvement of the sites of barracks professional counseling.
