지역사회 기반 그림책창작 프로그램에서의 치유 경험: U시 야학의 프로그램 사례를 중심으로

본 연구는 지역사회의 문화예술교육으로 실행된 그림책창작 프로그램에서 참여자들의 작품과 진술을 바탕으로 치유 경험을 탐구함으로써 독서치료의 새로운 영역을 제안하는 데 목적을 두었다. 본 연구는 프로그램을 단일 사례로 하여, 프로그램에 참여한 6명의 노인이 지역사회의 야학에서 진행된 8회기 그림책창작 과정, 출판된 그림책과 원화 전시 및 자기 작품을 낭독하는 공연 동안 경험한 치유 경험의 요인을 탐구하였다. 연구 결과, 치유 경험의 핵심은 성찰, 표현, 조직화, 공유의 4가지 요인으로 정리할 수 있었으며 그에 따른 주제는 ‘다시 떠올려 다르게 바라본 삶의 경험’, ‘그동안 말할 수 없었던 응어리를 토로’, ‘행위 주체로서 정리한 나의 삶’, ‘이야기를 통해 다른 사람들과 연결됨’으로 기술할 수 있었다. 그림책창작 프로그램이 어떻게 치유적 경험을 만들 수 있었는가의 탐색 결과는 향후 지역사회에서 시민치료사로서 활동할 수 있는 독서치료사의 역할과 지역사회 문화예술교육 프로그램과 융합될 수 있는 독서치료의 과정에 대한 시사점을 줄 수 있었다.
Abstract
This study aimed to suggest a new practical area of bibliotherapy by exploring healing experiences based on the case of a picturebook creation program implemented as a type of cultural and artistic education in the community. This study focused on a single program conducted at a night school in the local community of U-city, Korea. The elements of the healing experienced by the six seniors who participated in the program were explored through their creative works and statements. The program consisted of eight picturebook creation sessions and added sessions that included an exhibition of published picturebooks, original paintings of them, as well as reading performances of their own works. As a result of the study, the core of the healing experience could be categorized into four factors: reflection, expression, organization, and sharing. The following themes were identified: ‘life experiences viewed differently by reframing’, ‘express the inner emotional wounds that could not be said so far’, ‘organizing stories through my own personal agency’, and ‘connecting with other people through stories’. The effects of the picturebook creation program on healing experiences have implications for the role of bibliotherapists who can act as ‘citizen therapists’ in the community. Furthermore, this study provide insights into how the process of bibliotherapy can be integrated into a community cultural arts education program.
