A characterization of local resolvent sets

Abstract
Let T be a bounded linear operator on a Banach spaceX. And let rho_T(x) be the local resolvent set of T atxin X. Then we prove that a complex number lambda belongs torho_T(x) if and only if there is a sequence {x_n} in Xsuch that x_n=(T-lambda)x_{n+1} for n=0,1,2,ldots, x_0=xand {|x_n|^{frac{1}{n}}} is bounded.
