초록

사회과교육과정 개정시안에서 지역인식의 대상으로 장소지각과 공간행동을 강조함은 지역개념이 다양한 스펙트럼으로 분광되고 있음을 반증한다. 지리학에서 지역인식 논의는 경험의 구성체로서 공간, 개방 공간, 이미지 공간, 단일성보다는 특이성 관점에서 파악하는 장소, 인간생태학과 정치생태학적 관점에서 접근하는 환경 등으로 진전되고 있다. 지역을 실증적 관점에서 공간으로, 인간적 관점에서 장소로, 생태적 관점에서 환경으로 파악하려는 의도는 지역을 사진(지도)에 담고, 그림으로 그리고, 모형으로 만들려는 인식적 관심의 표현이다.지역은 학습주제 또는 문제의 성격에 따라 다양한 규모로 구분할 수 있으며, 지역의 기술방식은 규모적, 설명적, 해석적, 가치함축적 기술로 유형화할 수 있다. 지리교과서에서 기존의 고정관념과 편견을 극복하려면 지역의 특성을 집필자의 관점에서 다양한 사회구성원의 관점으로 확대하여 기술한다. 지역은 학습주제의 성격을 고려하여 선정된 사례지역을 관련·변화·비교·예측 등 지리적 관점에서 파악하고, 본문의 정보를 되풀이하여 말하기부터 자료를 평가하고 자료의 타당성에 관해 질문할 수 있도록 기술한다. 학습자가 개방적 민족주의와 국토인식에 기초하여 고장의 발전에 스스로 참여하는 태도를 기르도록 하는 지역기술이 필요하다.

Abstract

It must be a counterevidence that emphasizing place perception and spatial behavior as the subject of region cognition in the revised social studies curriculum makes the region conception separate into a various spectrum. Debating the region cognition in geography has been evolved as the empirical constructions, unblocking space, image space, the place in view of uniqueness rather than singularity and the environment in view of human ecology and political ecology. The intend to perceive the region as a space from a positive view, as a place from a human?s perspective, as environment from an ecological view is the expression of people?s epistemological interest that they try to take a photograph(map), draw a picture and make a model from the region.A region is to be divided into various scales according to the attribute of themes and problems. We may categorize the method of region description into scale, expository, interpretative, and value-connotative description. To overcome stereotyping and prejudice in the geography textbook, we can describe the regional characteristic from the social members? view beyond the writers? view. We can understand the selected region considering the thematic character, in view of relation, change, comparison, and prediction. We make the learners ask the questions from repeating the information to assessing the validity of data. It is necessary that the region is described for the learners to take part in developing their country with open-ended nationalism and territory perception.
