Abstract

This thesis considers Kant's social and political view on the relation between sociability and unsociability of human-being. We can not think about human-being without relation to the community like society and state as aristotelian definition of human-being shows that man is the social animal. Philosophers from ancient time to the middle age have usually regarded society and state natural and useful to the human-being. But in modern Philosophy this way of thinking is changed. Man do not think any more that living in society or community is natural and useful to the human-being. But there is no great difference between the philosophers of ancient, middle and modern ages in thinking that egoism, cupidity of having and dominating and the result of those malices, unsocial disposition as struggle, conflict and war are negative. But Kant regards the unsocial disposition of human-being as positive, for this disposition makes individual human-being competitive and that results in development of technology and culture. Kant regards the social disposition as negative and positive. He regards as positive because he thinks that the human society can not exist, when the sociable disposition as love and concord disappears and hate and jealousy dominate. In this case we have problem, because sociability and unsociability here do not exist in harmony, but in conflict. The conflict exists in this question; which is more important, the development of technology and culture or harmony and coexistence of human- beings?
