Abstract

The purpose of this study is to obtain basic data for discussing future improvement directions and strategies by examining the development process of the Regional representative library's recommended book list and identifying problems occurring in the process. As a research method, a survey and telephone interview on the development process were conducted for the person in charge of the recommended book list at the regional representative library. The questionnaire consisted of the composition status of the recommended book list, the systematic development of the recommended book list, and evaluation of the usefulness and usefulness of the recommended book list. Twelve people responded to the questionnaire, and 4 people had a telephone interview. As a result of the survey, it was found that the book catalog was composed at the discretion of the person in charge due to the lack of systematic standards and support for book recommendation. Although it is predicted that the usefulness and effectiveness of the catalogs provided to users will be high, the development of programs and services using the catalogs was insufficient and the effectiveness verification was not performed properly. In the future, follow-up studies such as a support system that can strengthen the professionalism of book recommendation, a research method to objectively evaluate the usefulness of a book catalog, and effective program development using the catalog are expected to be conducted.
