연구 목적: 이 연구는 반려인의 고령화 추세에 따라 취약계층 고령반려인의 반려동물 양육경험의 의미가 무엇인지를 알아보는 것이다. 연구 방법: 65세 이상 노인 중 현재 반려견을 양육하고 있는 1인 가구 국민기초생활 보장수급자 5명을 대상으로 인터뷰 조사를 통해 공통된 중심주제와 핵심의미를 찾았다. 자료분석에는 타게트(www.taguette.org)프로그램을 이용하고 내용적 타당성을 확보하기 위해 전문가에 대한 초점집단면접(FGI: focus group interview)을 실시하였다. 연구 내용: 연구결과 11개의 핵심의미와 5개의 중심주제를 확인하였으며, 반려동물이 노인의 삶에 유일한 낙이며 가족이 되었지만, 양육을 도와줄 주변인의 부재로 자기돌봄조차 힘든 상황을 알 수 있었다. 결론 및 제언: 연구결과를 바탕으로 노인의 삶의 질 향상은 물론 고독사 문제해결을 위해 이들의 반려동물 돌봄을 위한 시급한 사회적 지원을 제언한다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to find out what the meaning of ‘parenting experience’ is by deriving common central themes and core meanings that appear through an interview survey base on vulnerable elderly pet owners as the trend of more aging pet owners increase. The 5 participants in the study were the recipients of the National Basic Livelihood Security, with the elderly living alone over the age of 65 and currently raising dogs. The target (www.taguette.org)program was used for data analysis, on a FGI (focus group interview) which was conducted with experts to obtain content validity evidence. As a result of the study, 11 core meanings and 5 central themes were identified. Although pets were the only pleasure in the life of the elderly by becoming a family member, it was found that it was difficult to even take care of themselves due to the absence of others around to help take care of the dog. It is suggested that social support for pet care is urgently needed to improve the quality of life for the elderly, as well as to solve the problem of solitary death.
