Abstract
With the rising demand for immersive visual content, spatial audio technologies that enhance audiovisual experiences have become central to film sound design. This study examines the evolution of immersive sound and compares Dolby Atmos’s object-based audio system with Sphere’s beamforming audio technology. Drawing on technical documentation and industry cases, the research analyzes the sound structures, spatial distribution across listening positions, and methods of spatial perception in both systems. Immersion theory and auditory models are applied to evaluate their influence on audience sensory engagement. The findings indicate that Atmos enhances immersion through flexible object placement and production freedom, while Sphere reconstructs the theater into a precisely controlled sound field that minimizes seat-to-seat variability. This study highlights the impact of spatial sound experiences within theaters and provides theoretical and technical foundations for future audio strategies in immersive content production.
