This paper aims at raising up the new perspective on the teach- ing of English pronunciation. Since the communicative approach has been emphasized in Korea, the issue of how to improve the pronunciation skills has been neglected without any special intention. When the performance test is scheduled to be im- plemented, the problematization of pronunciation has been brought up in the middle school classrooms. The Korean teachers of English should understand the articulatory operations of vocal organs and be aware that the student learners have needed as many chances as shown in the immersion classes. Even the high- school English teachers should not neglect the oral reading with accuracy, because the students have been good listeners. It has also been statistically illustrated that the meaning-centered com- municative approach has given some negative effects on the form-focused techniques in the pronunciation instruction.
