The widely acknowledged problem of reliably identifying hidden information in computer storage systems has been the subject of much research in traditional computer systems. With the introduction of faster, cheaper and large space flash memory chips, the transition of storage systems is occurring at the rapid pace from personal hand-held devices to general computing systems. Due to the nature of pure electronic components without any moving parts, storing and retrieving information from flash memory is considered to be inherently different from traditional hard-disk systems which are depending on mechanical parts. Even with the latest advances of flash memory size and speed, there is still an inborn design flaw the allows the media to be exploited. Our research illustrates anyone with a limited budget can exploit modern day flash memory devices to hide data.
