성인 자살생각 영향 요인 연구 : 애그뉴의 일반긴장이론 중심으로

초록

이 연구는 애그뉴의 일반긴장이론을 적용해 긴장요인이 성인의 자살생각에 영향을 미치는지 살펴보고, 그 과정을 우울감이 매개하는지 확인하는 것이 목적이다. 이를 통해 어떤 긴장요인이 우울감을 통해 자살생각으로 이어지는지 확인하여 자살생각, 궁극적으로 자살을 줄이는 방안을 모색하고자 하였다. 이 연구는 만 19세 이상 서울시민을 대상으로 한 설문조사자료(N=2,000)를 활용해 Baron과 Kenny(1986)의 방법론으로 위계적 회귀분석을 진행하였다. 분석 결과, 긴장 요인 중 가족 차별 경험과 삶의 만족도는 우울감과 유의하게 부적으로 영향이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 직장 차별 경험과 가족 차별, 삶의 만족도는 자살생각에 부적으로 영향이 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 우울감은 자살생각에 정적인 영향이 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 삶의 만족도와 자살생각의 관계와 가족 차별과 자살생각의 관계를 부분 매개하는 것으로 분석되었다. 이 연구는 자살에 대한 이론 검증 연구가 드문 가운데 자살에 선행되는 자살생각에 대한 일반긴장이론의 설명력을 검증하였다는데 의의가 있다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the factors that influence suicidal ideation among citizens of Seoul, South Korea. Agnew's General Strain Theory provides the theoretical framework for the study. The current study facilitated data, Survey on Mental Health in Seoul, 2022, to examine depressive mood as a mediator between distress factors (e.g. family, school and workplace discrimination and life dissatisfaction) on the one hand and suicidal ideation on the other. Before conducting Baron and Kenny’s three-step hierarchical regression, the collected data were analyzed by frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, Pearson’s correlation coefficient. The results showed that age, family discrimination, life dissatisfaction had a negative impact on depressed mood. Workplace discrimination, family discrimination and life disstatisfaction had a negative effect on suicidal ideations. It was confirmed that depressed mood partially mediated in the relationship between family strain and suicidal ideations. Depressed mood also partially mediated in the relationship between life dissatisfaction and suicidal ideations. The authors discuss how these findings may inform and facilitate the design and development of interventions to reduce the likelihood of suicidal ideation in adults.
