자아분화와 사회불안이 남녀 대학생의 커플친밀감에 미치는 영향

초록

본 연구는 남ㆍ녀 대학생을 대상으로 그들의 커플 친밀감에 영향을 미치는 자아분화 및 사회불안의 영향력 정도를 검증해 봄으로써, 성인초기의 주요 발달과업 중 하나인 커플 친밀감 형성에 대한 이해를 도모하고 성인초기의 친밀감 능력을 향상시킬 수 있는 기초자료를 제공하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 서울시에 소재한 3개 대학 재학생 232명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 그 결과, 우선 남․녀 대학생의 자아분화, 사회불안 및 커플친밀감 점수 간에는 자기입장을 제외하고는 큰 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 둘째 남․녀 대학생의 자아분화, 사회불안 및 커플친밀감간 상관분석에서, 남자 대학생은 자기입장과 커플친밀감간 r=.35, 여자 대학생은 정서적 단절과 커플친밀감간 r=-.37의 상관관계를 나타냈다. 또한 남자 대학생 집단에서는 사회불안과 커플친밀감간 r=-.33의 상관관계가 나타났으나, 여자 대학생 집단에서는 통계적으로 의미있는 상관관계가 나타나지 않았다. 마지막으로 커플친밀감에 미치는 각 변수들의 상대적 영향력을 살펴본 결과, 남자 대학생 집단의 커플친밀도에 가장 영향을 미치는 변수로는 자기입장(β=.41)이, 여자 대학생 집단의 경우는 통계적으로 의미있지는 않았지만 정서적 단절(β=-.40)로 나타났다. 이로써 남녀 대학생들의 커플친밀감과 자아분화 및 사회불안 간에는 어느정도 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 자아분화와 사회불안은 커플친밀감 발달에 어느정도 영향을 미친다는 사실이 부분적으로 지지되었다.

Abstract

This study tested several hypotheses drawn from Bowen Theory. Using a sample of Korean University students, the researchers examined relationships among variables such as differentiation of self, social anxiety, and couple intimacy. No significant differences between male and female groups were found, except for a measure of the I position. Among males, social anxiety was moderately correlated with couple intimacy, and couple intimacy was associated with the I position. Among females, couple intimacy was associated with emotional cutoff. Differentiation of self and social anxiety effectively predicted couple intimacy in the male, but not the female, group. The results suggest that therapists should consider I position aspects of differentiation when treating a client's social anxiety and couple intimacy.
