본 연구는 이혼위기를 경험하고 있는 부부의 상호갈등 요인을 파악하고 가족치료 개입을 통한 부부의 변화과정을 파악하여 부부갈등으로 인한 이혼위기를 대처해 나갈 수 있도록 돕고자 하였다. 연구자는 질적연구방법으로 상담내용의 지속적인 비교분석을 통하여 의미 있는 요인들을 찾아내었고, 이를 네트워크(Network)와 매트릭스(Matrix)를 사용하여 남편과 부인의 상호작용적 특성을 나타내었다. 그 결과 가족치료를 통해 부부는 지금까지 시도했던 역기능적 의사소통 방식과 원가족으로부터 미분화 특성과 가족생활주기상 부부가 경험하고 있었던 사건들이 부부갈등의 요인이라는 것을 인식하게 되었고, 가족치료 결과 부부는 지금까지 사용하지 않았던 새로운 의사소통 방식을 시도하게 되었고, 원가족과의 분화의 필요성을 인식하게 됨으로써 부부간의 변화가 일어났고 궁극적으로 부부의 갈등이 감소하였다. 현재 사회문제로 부각되고 있는 이혼가정의 증가 현상을 살펴볼 때, 의사소통이론과 가족체계이론을 통한 부부상담은 이혼숙려기간의 이혼위기 부부를 위하여 적극 활용되어 이혼율을 낮추는데 기여할 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
Objectives: This study identified characteristics of spousal conflict, effective family therapy interventions, and the process of change in marital therapy. Methods: To identify the characteristics of spousal conflict and the effects of family therapy interventions on couples’ processes of change, the researchers used constant comparative analysis with open coding, organizing the analysis with Miles and Huberman’s matrix and network display. Results: The results revealed varied causes of conflict when a couple contemplates divorce; however, family of origin issues were noteworthy. The therapeutic interventions, which proved effective, included facilitation of communication between husband and wife, the husband’s differentiation from his family of origin, and greater spousal recognition. Conclusions: If a couple’s marriage can be saved when they are on the brink of divorce, it makes sense for them to pursue therapy during the month they must wait, by law, to finalize their divorce.
