본 연구는 이혼위기를 극복한 중년기 남편들의 삶의 경험과 그 의미를 탐구하기 위하여 수행되었다. 연구 참여자는 이혼위기를 극복한 후 안정적인 결혼생활을 유지하고 있는 중년기 남편 3명이다. 심층면접을 통한 자료수집기간은 2016년 4월부터 2017년 5월까지이다. 자료 분석은 Clandinin과 Connelly가 제시한 3차원적 내러티브 탐구에서 상황, 시간성, 상호작용의 차원과 4가지 방향성을 기준으로 이루어졌고 참여자들의 경험의 의미를 분석하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 상황은 실존적 공간에서 현실의 문제로 드러난 이혼위기, 둘째, 시간성은 이혼위기가 어린 시절로부터 이어져 온 잠재적 문제의 발현이라는 점 셋째, 상호작용은 ‘자기 소외에서 자기수용’으로의 변화로 나타났다. 참여자들의 이혼 위기 극복의 의미는 고착, 해체, 재구성, 변주의 과정을 거쳐 ‘성숙’에 이른 것이었다. 본 연구 결과는 이혼 위기를 극복한 중년기 남편들에 대한 깊이 있는 이해를 제공하여 효율적인 상담이 이루어지는데 기여할 것이다.
Abstract
Objectives: The study explored the divorce-recovery experiences of three middle-aged husbands. Methods: Data were collected through in-depth interviews from April 2016 to May 2017. The narratives of participants were analyzed using Clandinin & Connelly’s guidelines, focusing on situation, time, and interaction dimensions. Results: The experiences were discussed in terms of the situation of the divorce crisis, the latent problems that began in childhood, the change from self-isolation to self-acceptance, and the recovery process, from fixation to dissolution, reframing, and variations throughout four therapy sessions. Conclusions: Results from this study will contribute to effective counseling for those going through similar experiences.
