청소년 내담자가 포함된 가족을 대상으로 한 해결중심 가족상담에 대한 미시적 사례연구

초록

청소년이 포함된 가족과의 치료적 상호작용은 상담자에게 매우 어려운 작업이다. 실제 가족치료 과정에서 일어난 치료적 대화에 대한 면밀한 분석은 이러한 가족과의 치료적 과정과 상담자의 역할에 대한 상담자의 이해를 높일 수 있을 것이다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 숙련된 해결중심상담자인 Insoo Kim Berg가 청소년이 포함된 두 가족을 대상으로 진행한 해결중심 가족치료에 대한 미시적 사례연구를 진행했다. 미시적 사례연구는 미시분석과 사례연구를 결합한 형태의 연구방법으로 가족치료가 실제로 일어난 각 사례의 맥락 속에서 상담자와 가족 구성원 간 상호작용을 구체적으로 살필 수 있는 방법론적 이점을 제공했다. 주요한 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 진행 과정으로서, 상담자는 두 사례 모두에서 주 내담자로 지목된 청소년 내담자의 유능성을 확인하는 ‘강점 대화’로 대화를 시작했으며, 이후의 치료 과정은 ‘목표설정’, ‘기적질문’, ‘기적척도질문’, 그리고 ‘치료적 휴식 및 메시지 전달’의 순으로 전개되었다. 둘째, 상담자의 역할로서, 상담자는 두 사례 모두에서 치료에 참여한 가족 모두에게 순환적이며, 존중적인 접근을 통해 청소년을 비롯한 모든 가족이 치료 과정에서 소외되지 않도록 했다. 특히, 상담자는 청소년 내담자의 문제에 대한 부모의 불평이 치료 과정을 주도하지 않도록 했으며, 동시에 가족이 해결대화에 개입할 수 있도록 적극적인 역할을 수행했다. 이러한 결과는 청소년이 포함된 가족과의 치료 장면에 대한 심층적 이해를 제공하는 임상적 의미가 있다. 마지막으로, 연구 결과에 대한 이론적, 실천적 함의에 대해 논의하고, 후속 연구를 위한 제언을 제시했다.

Abstract

Objectives: Therapeutic interaction with families, including those with adolescents, is a difficult task for any counselor. A close analysis of therapeutic conversations will enhance our understanding of the therapeutic process with families and the role of a counselor. Methods: We conducted a micro-analytic case study of solution-focused family therapy cases conducted by Insoo Kim Berg. This study combines a microanalysis and a case study to examine the interactions between the counselor and family members in the context of each case where solution-focused family therapy took place. Results: First, in both cases, the counselor started the conversation with a “strength dialogue” that confirmed the competence of the adolescent clients. Afterwards, the treatment process unfolded in the order of “goal setting”, “miracle question”, “miracle scaling question”, and “therapeutic break and message”. Second, the counselor took a circular and respectful approach to all the families so that no family members, including adolescents, were left out of the treatment process. Conclusions: These results have clinical significance in providing an in-depth understanding of solution- focused family therapy with families including adolescents.
