Abstract
The Fourth Industrial Revolution, also known as the Fourth Industry (industry 4.0), promotes socio-economic change and requires active responses from governments. This change is expected to be accelerated by the emergence of new jobs and the disappearance of existing jobs. In the beauty industry, the Fourth Industrial Revolution is undergoing various changes. Various ICT convergences, eco-friendly consumer, and augmented reality-integrated IT technologies are seen throughout the beauty industry. Nevertheless, there is a lack of precedent research that seeks the development direction of the beauty industry during the 4th Industrial Revolution era. The purpose of this study is to examine the general changes in the Fourth Industrial Revolution era and to suggest development plans for securing the sustainability of the beauty industry in the future. In this paper, two agendas are proposed: active acceptance of technologies related to the Fourth Industrial Revolution and innovation in education and training. The Fourth Industrial Revolution is often known to reduce human jobs. But in the beauty industry where interpersonal relationships are important, the Fourth Industrial Revolution can be an opportunity. In response to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, we should prepare for a new turning point in the beauty industry.
