For the past twenty years, Korean Church has been viewed as aworld-class model for rapid church growth among a wide variety ofwell-known scholars of religion like Peter Berger, David Martin, andPhillip Jenkins. All of them considered Korean Church to be thebestexample of nationwide church growth and revival. How shall weevaluate the scholars' analyses of Korean Church? They were rightbecause Korean Church had sprang up quickly and passionately. Nevertheless, we must exercise caution and not expect pastperformance to predict the future. The current state of Korean Churchis no longer that of a passionate revival movement. Instead, her ardorhas cooled and her reputation has been tarnished in the broadersociety. What then is the reality of the present-day Korean Churchand what is her prospect for the future? This paper will deal withthese questions from the sociological perspectives.
